Join LDStorymakers

As a group of authors who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, our purpose is to encourage and support published authors, strengthen the cause of literacy, and raise the quality of LDS literature.

If you are a published LDS author who is anxious to forward the cause of LDS literature and strive for quality in your writing, we would love to have you join us. There will be opportunities to participate in book signings, literacy events, conferences, and more.

Upon joining our organization, you will be enrolled in our four required Yahoo! Groups: one for announcements from our Executive Committee, one that you will use to send your news to the other Storymakers, one for chatting on a broad range of topics (except religion and politics), and the last for discussing information about writing. Carefully read the membership requirements below. If you qualify, please join us!

MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

1) You must be a member in good standing of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and your work must reflect Church standards.

2) You must have had at least one book-length work of fiction or literary non-fiction written by you and published by a reputable publisher within the past three years. The book must have been financed entirely by the publisher. (Self-published works, or works published with author participation, are not eligible.) We define literary non-fiction as memoirs, biographies, lesson manuals, etc. Game or puzzle books do not qualify. Editorial compilations of others' work, whether fiction or non-fiction, do not qualify. Co-authored works will be considered on a case-by-case basis. New authors may apply for membership after their initial qualifying book appears in bookstores. If in doubt, please contact us for a clarification.

3) You must not be employed by nor do contract work for a publishing company.

4) If you meet the above requirements, please fill out the electronic form below, along with which you will be required to pay membership joining dues of $30 dollars.

BECOMING A MEMBER

When we have received the completed application and your joining dues, we will review your qualifications. If the publishing and joining requirements have been met, we will add you to the four required e-mail lists, add you to our website pages, and send you an official LDStorymaker nametag. In successive years the annual membership cost is $20, due each January. If for any reason you do not meet the qualifications for membership, your joining dues will be promptly refunded.

Be sure to include your PUBLISHING CREDIT(S), DATE OF ELIGIBLE BOOK RELEASE, and the NAME OF YOUR PUBLISHER in the form below. Failure to include this information may delay your membership. Please do not ask to join until your book has been published.

We also ask for a brief biography and a photo, which will be included on your Author Bio page, should you qualify for membership. You may opt to include URLs of suitable bios and/or photos that can be borrowed from the Internet in the BIO box below. Send a photo of yourself to Marsha Ward. The proper email address and instruction will appear on the next page.

All form fields are required. If one does not apply, put "none" in the box. Please use your Tab key to advance through the form, as hitting the Enter key to move between boxes could send the form prematurely. Thank you.

One last note. Please don't enter an email address your family members use in common, or a business address used by several persons, in the form below. Instead, choose an email address that can handle a high volume of personal email (and one you check frequently, so it doesn't bounce). If you use an address that routes through your website, it must be one only you can receive, not a "role" address such as "admin", "contact", "info," "webmaster", "sales", "support", etc. Yahoo Groups prohibit their use, so they are not practical for our purposes.
